I am a photographer based in Nashville, Tennessee

I’ve been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I dreamed of being sent to far-off destinations by National Geographic to photograph exotic, lost cities or wildlife. I would take my grandfather’s old Canon down to the field behind my house, frame up, click the shutter, advance the non-existent film, and head deeper into the woods to track whatever elusive animal I imagined that day.

It was my grandmother who really introduced me to photography. I can still remember one of my favorite photographs of hers. There was a bridge about two blocks from her house that she visited one particularly foggy morning. Fog was rising from the river below, enveloping the bridge, and a lamppost was quietly disappearing into the mist. Most of all, I remember the feeling I got when looking at it. It was simple, mysterious, a bit melancholy — and that stayed with me.

I think I’m still chasing that feeling when I photograph.

I’m not interested in limiting myself to a single genre or subject matter. I photograph people, places, architecture, nature, landscapes, everyday moments — anything that grabs my attention. The way a pane of broken glass reflects and obscures a figure walking past excites me just as much as a quiet sunset in the mountains. A lone person on a busy street corner can feel just as isolated as a small buoy in a vast ocean.

Photography makes me slow down, pay attention, and really see.
