The Zoo Swan

If I have learned anything from photography, its to always have a camera close by and easily accessible. Many photographers will tell you that great photos can be found just a few paces from your doorstep or during the commute to and from the grocery store. Its all true.

In this case, I was on a family trip to the local zoo. I had my camera in hand with the intention of taking some candid shots of my family when we walked over a bridge and saw this lovely scene. The light, the reflection of the sky and trees, the ripples in the water, and the stark white of the swan created such beautiful textures and shapes - I knew I needed to take a photo. Camera already in hand, I shot a few frames and was gifted this photo. I didn’t visit the zoo with the intention of walking away with one of my favorite photos of 2024, but that’s what happened.
